800+ SBS Camps (VBS) in North India in 2007

One of the wonderful things about the fear of the Lord is that it can be taught. Another thing to notice in this verse is that the children are told to come and listen. If they do not come and listen, they cannot be taught easily.

For the past 50 years, Suvisheshakan Balasangham ("SBS") or the Christian Children's Fellowship has been reaching out to children, so that they may be taught the fear of the Lord. Those who do not fear the Lord are lost eternally. There are over 400 million children out there in India (which is much more than the total population of the entire North American continent).  SBS has the vision to reach these precious children and also to teach them the fear of the Lord. Your prayer and immediate response is vital to SBS ministry right now. Please do not ignore this call.

We should not continue to ignore the children in the North India.  Those who have had any exposure to the SBS ministries in the past, have a greater obligation in getting involved in this ministry. The Fellowship of Indian Brethren Families in North America ("FIBA") is requesting every Brethren family in USA and Canada to help SBS fulfill this vision by earnest prayers and financial support.

We would like each Brethren family to sponsor five (5) VBS camps, to evangelize the children of India in this generation. It costs about $300 to sponsor a three-day VBS for 200 children. SBS has sufficient numbers of trained volunteer-teachers in almost all the states of India and SBS materials are available in 12 Indian languages. During the 2007 vacation time, SBS is seeking your prayers and co-operation to conduct over 800 VBS in north India. 

Teacher's Training: There are 600 districts in the 28 states and 7 union territories of India, and SBS conducted teacher's training in only in a few districts so far. There are over 500 districts waiting for teacher's training. Your sponsorship for such training camps is very crucial. Last year there was a month-long SBS training for 60 Master Teacher Trainers [representing all the states of India]. These MTTs would train teachers all over India for SBS, on an ongoing basis. It would cost about $1000 to conduct a one-week Teacher's Training Camp.

This year the focus is on new territories where an SBS camp has never been conducted. Most of the children attending these camps are going to hear the Gospel for the first time. They will be learning new songs and hearing Bible stories; they will have workbooks in their own languages and they will be learning memory verses, etc. They will be making new friendships besides dining together for three days. These children will go home with some unforgettable experiences in their life. Many of them will make decisions for Christ at the very first VBS. Would it be possible for your family to sponsor a few VBS camps this year?
